My qualifications

I was born in Ukraine.

I studied and have graduated there.

My qualifications include 8 years of Music School (which consisted of such subjects as music theory, music history, piano and accordion instruments). At the end of each year I was taking an exam similar to ABRSM grading exams and I am proud to say that I had passed all 8 of them with equivalence to Distinction!

In 1995 I was enrolled to Lviv Music Pedagogic Academy and after 4 years of hard work successfully graduated. In the Academy, apart from the instrument itself and among other subjects I have been doing Vocal studies, Pedagogy to teaching music, Choir singing, and many more music and teaching related subjects.

From 1999 until 2001 I have studied in absentia for two years in the Drohobych Pedagogic Institute and worked at the same time as a music teacher in Primary gymnasium No1 in Novyy Rozdil.

After arrival to the UK in July 2001 I have been engaged in non-musical temporary jobs until December 2002 when I had my first child. I continued practising throughout the time between this point and 2011 - having had another child and done some more temporary jobs. It was not easy to venture to re-start my teaching career again but eventually in August 2011 I started working as a private piano tutor here in London. Now I can see the difference my music lessons makes and I am often so proud of my students achievements and even more of the decision I took then.

I keep in touch with most of my students after they leave me and some send me amazing stories and videos! I only publish some of them and not all for various reasons but they all give me reassurance that I have chosen the right path.

I think few videos and photos I publish in my Gallery might be not the most advanced from what my students do but it is their pride, a chance to perform and shine! It also a good reflection on my work and I would like to think that I can rightfully take some credit in their achievements.

Feedback from my students and/or their parents is the another excellent and independent way to judge what I do. I wish I had more reviews - even if not all positive! They provide a vital information for potential new students. Even though they might be subjective as sometimes it's prompted by some event (mainly positive) like passing the exam with good score or finally mastering a piece student has been dreaming of.

I have a history of ABRSM exams I booked for my students. I think there are now over two hundred (or maybe more) entries with my name on them which successfully passed their exams. Only a very few have not achieved higher marks like Merit or Distinction.
